What My Dreams Mean

What My Dreams Mean: Discovering Various Interpretations

Dreams denote various meanings. Therefore, the answers to what my dreams mean could involve both positive and negative interpretations. Despite the negative side, many still are very interested and excited in finding out what their dreams are trying to say.

This is one of the reasons why there are now dream experts focusing on either the theoretical or scientific analysis of dreams. These experts feel the need to examine and deeply analyze the origin and meanings of particular dream situations. Their desires are triggered by the connection of dreams not just to the interest of the people, but to the whole personality of each individual.

The theoretical analysis of dreams is found to be more interesting than the scientific. Many individuals are more into discovering the several assumptions or theories regarding dreams. Speculations on what my dreams mean are more appealing; thus, discovering the interpretations of common dream themes.

To give you an idea of these common dream themes, let me provide you with five of the most frequently experienced situations; flying, being chased, losing teeth, falling, and being naked.

Flying is one of the few things that allow a person to realize that he or she is just dreaming because flying is impossible in real life. This is one very important factor in learning the lucid dreaming – controlling one’s dreams.

Anyhow, flying implies both negative and positive meanings. On the positive side, it signifies that you are totally in control of your life. You got what it takes to reach your goals and obtain success in your plans. By knowing that, flying dream situations actually will help you in boosting your encouragement and motivation to pursue your goals. However, on the negative side, flying can represent facing barriers and challenges in life.

Being chased in a dream is something like avoiding confrontations and life challenges. If you are asking yourself “what my dreams mean” when you are chased, you may be running away from facing problems. Perhaps, you are too afraid to accept something that has already happened. You are scared to know the reality.

If you frequently get chased in your dreams, try to examine your current condition in reality. Determine your problems and the challenges you have to face. Remember that running away from them is definitely not the solution. You are just making it worse. Learn to face your problems, deal with what you have to deal with, and accept things.

Losing teeth can have several meanings, but the most common one is about getting anxious over your physical look. Loosing teeth means you are too worried about how people look at you especially those, who are important to you. This particular dream situation or dream then is mostly about frustration, anxiety and losing confidence.

If you are falling in your dream, you may be experiencing fear or failure in life, while getting naked could mean that you are exposed or the people around you might have figured out your secrets.

Interpretations suggested for what my dreams mean really vary. However, you yourself can easily verify or confirm if those interpretations are true based on your present condition.

Lucid Dreaming Techniques - 3 Basic Steps

Lucid dreaming, based on dream experts and practitioners, provides some benefits. In order to fully take advantage of these benefits, we have to learn about the lucid dreaming techniques. We have to determine the procedures that will allow us to increase our level of lucidity. Only when we become fully aware and in control of our dreams, can we begin to gather a few good things that will be of great help to us. One of these is conquering our fears and weaknesses, which is an extremely important process in self-development.

Learning lucid dreaming techniques may start from doing simple memory exercises. Experts often call this Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams. After going through these introductory techniques, we can then move on to learning guided meditation, which is often called the Wake Induced Lucid Dreams. These two types of practise can help us in training our subconscious mind to perform based on some guidelines, which we can set up according to the following techniques.

Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams (MILD) Techniques

1.) Doing a Reality Check. This step increases our self-awareness, which is a very important thing in increasing lucidity. To do this, we have to ask ourselves whether or not we are dreaming. When we sleep, one good practice to perform is to set a digital watch to ring every hour. Once we start hearing the ringing in our dreams and become aware that it was from our digital watch, we are already developing our self-awareness; thus, triggering a high level of lucidity.

2.) Inducing a Lucid Dream at Will. Our subconscious mind is extremely powerful. If we focus on thinking something, it will record it and make it happen according to how you want it. Therefore, in this step you have to focus your mind on thinking that the next dream is going to be a lucid dream. Repeat this every time you are about to sleep.

3.) Recognizing the Dream World. This final step in simple lucid dreaming techniques is the most exciting part. Here, we have to be conscious in our dreams. We need to be aware of the surroundings by looking at the things around us in high definition. We have to realize that we are already in the dream world and that we can control all the events including the individuals we want to be in our dream.

These lucid dreaming techniques, though simple, require patience and determination. We need to be completely focused on one goal – achieving lucid dreaming. All the exercises discussed under the MILD level may take time. We have to be patient enough in completing each stage; otherwise, we may not be able to let our conscious mind work within our dreams.

Once you select your dream exercises - be loyal to them. You need to train your subconscious mind to follow your new guidelines, so it may take a little time. As long as you are patient and focused on your goal, you will learn how to lucid dream. The first few awakenings are often the hardest but are also very rewarding!
